We Are His Witnesses

On Epiphany, the Cardinal announced the initiation of a pastoral conversion program – We are His Witnesses – to prepare the Archdiocese for the changing landscape the Archdiocese is facing in her mission.

The very first step in this process involves a detailed assessment of each parish including her physical plant, personnel, financial health, and, most importantly, her effectiveness in transmitting the Gospel. That is where the Disciple Maker Index(DMI) comes in! The DMI is an important survey tool that invites YOU to reflect on your discipleship journey here at BMT Parish. The Disciple Maker Index is designed to:

•. Invite you to reflect on your journey of discipleship.

•. Enable parish leadership to make data-driven decisions.

•. Help you grow in your faith.

The 10–15-minute survey will ask you to reflect on your own spiritual growth and enable you to provide your perspective on our efforts to help you grow in relationship with Christ. All responses will be confidential and the parish will only receive information about the community as a whole. The DMI survey will open for responses on Saturday, April 26. You can access the online survey here . Paper surveys are available in the church vestibule and the Chapel of the Saints for those who do not have the ability to complete the survey online. If you need to complete a paper survey, you can return it directly to the parish office or you can bring it to Sunday Mass; we will have a box in the Chapel of the Saints where you can place it. Every individual parishioner, 16 years of age or older, should participate. All surveys must be completed by Sunday, May 25.

Thank you for helping with this important project. Together we must embrace Christ’s vision for missionary discipleship so the parishes of the archdiocese can thrive and be a place for others to grow together in faith.

En la Epifanía, el Cardenal anunció el inicio de un programa de conversión pastoral – Somos Sus Testigos – para preparar a la Arquidiócesis para el panorama cambiante que la Arquidiócesis enfrenta en su misión.

El primer paso en este proceso implica un asesoramiento detallado de cada parroquia, incluyendo su planta física, el personal, salud financiera y, aún más importante, su eficacia en transmitir el Evangelio. ¡Es ahí donde viene el Índice de Creador de Discípulos(ICD)! El ICD es una encuesta importante que te invita a reflexionar en tu jornada como discípulo aquí en la Parroquia BMT. El Índice de Creador de Discípulos está diseñado para:

•. Invitarte a reflexionar sobre tu jornada al discipulado.

•. Permitir que los lideres parroquiales tomen decisiones basadas en datos.

•. Ayudarte a crecer en tu fe.

La encuesta de 10-15 minutos te pedirá que reflexiones sobre tu propio crecimiento espiritual así proporcionando tu perspectiva sobre nuestros esfuerzos para ayudarte a crecer en tu relación con Cristo. Toda respuesta es confidencial y la parroquia solo recibirá información sobre la comunidad en su conjunto. La encuesta ICD se abrirá para respuestas el Sábado, 26 de Abril. Puede acceder la encuesta en línea aquí . Encuestas impresas también están disponibles en el vestíbulo de la iglesia y la Capilla de los Santos para aquellos que no tienen la habilidad de hacer la encuesta en línea. Si necesita llenar una encuesta escrita, puede devolverla directamente a la oficina parroquial o puede traerla a la Misa el Domingo; tendremos una caja en la Capilla de los Santos donde puede depositarla. Cada feligrés individual de 16 años de edad o más, debe participar. Todas las encuestas deben completarse antes del Domingo, 25 de Mayo.

St. Andrew's Church building St. Andrew's Church has been temporarily closed since January 2024 due to heating and furnace repair challenges. This continues to be addressed. Estimates for related repair work are expected soon, which will help to steer decisions on next steps. Bishop Gregory Studerus, the Vicar for Hudson County, and the Archdiocese of Newark's leadership are aware of the status of the building's condition. A parish Steering Committee, composed of the Finance Council, Parish Council and At-Large members is reviewing facts, estimates and financials to determine next steps. Donations Financial donations made to either St. Mary's Church or St. Andrew's Church continue to support and sustain the two churches' combined entity known as the parish of Bl. Miriam Teresa Demjanovich. This has been the case for the past 8 years. Parish Council Bl. Miriam Teresa Demjanovich's Parish Council is aware of the current status of St. Andrew's Church building and is addressing concerns at its next council meeting in late February 2024. Concerned Parishioner Calls and Emails Bl. Miriam Teresa Demjanovich Parish and the Archdiocese of Newark remain committed to serving the people of this parish community while exploring how we may continue our mission with current resources. We are grateful for the parish community's patience and understanding during this time. We recognize there are many parishioners who continue to have questions or concerns about the condition of the church building(s).
