Reconciliation

Healing Broken Relationships

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is known by many names, including Confession or Penance. No matter the name, the sacrament focuses on our need to be healed so that we can experience a restored relationship with both God and our neighbor.  Each time that we choose to sin, we break these relationships and separate ourselves to a certain degree from those whom we love.  While we may feel that we can simply confess our sins to God, the Christ himself tells us that we need to Him through the Sacrament of Reconciliation.  Speaking to His disciples after the Resurrection, He said: ““Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.”  And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the holy Spirit.  Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained.” (John 20:21-23)

A priest is available for the Sacrament of Reconciliation each Saturday afternoon from 3:00pm – 4:00 at St. Andrew Church.  If you are unable to come at this time, please contact one of our priests for a mutually convenient time.
